I volunteered to be the system designer and to create the cover for the project.
System:
At this point, I have the grid laid out as well as the dimensions. After discussing the options with Larry, I have decided that we will use the color palette Gettysburg, with some exceptions.
1. You must use TWO of the five colors in the Gettysburg Palette.
2. You can use as little as two or as many as five colors in your design.
3. If you use more than two colors in your design you may choose the additional colors whether they be from the palette or from the desire of your heart.
Here is the palette as well as the CMYK numbers for them:
I am still working on the layout however, I do feel confident in the grid I have chosen as well as the paper size. The paper size has had a slight adjustment. Instead of 11x17, we will be using an 11x17.5. This is not arbitrary as I needed the additional .5 inches to make sure the grid was right. I think the easiest route to get the correct grid is for me to email an InDesign file to all of you who will be using InDesign. If you are not using InDesign we can work something out.
Here are the dimensions:
11x17.5 with .25 margins the grid has five columns and eight rows. Each module in the grid is a 2.125 square. Again if you want to use my template I can email you a copy in Illustrator or InDesign. My email is aubree.kerby@gmail.com.
After our conversation in class on January 18th, a few more details have been ironed out. The class has the following guidelines for the font.
1. A serif and a sans serif font must be used. You may also use a script font if desired.
2. Your san serif font must be Avenir. (Avenir is not available in updated versions of Creative Cloud, and Typekit.) This font may need to be changed.
Images:
You can use images if they are monotone or duotone.
I will have a layout posted for your rule number by the 19th. (UPDATED).
The link below is a downloadable Adobe Illustrator File. It has all the Guides and Numbers for each poster. Here are some instructions:
1. Delete all the triangle on the poster EXCEPT the number of poster you are working on.
2. DO NOT move the positioning of the number or the triangle that corresponds to your poster.
3. The font is not avenir (see the message above) at this time leave the font alone until we can discuss a new font face if we need to.
Here is an example of what to do.
Above is an example of what your posters look like if you have posters five and six and have followed directions removing all the numbers except the poster number. (Note we may add a stroke to the white triangles to increase visibility.)
